Signs of a water leak are not always obvious as the pipe from your meter to your home is usually buried several feet underground. A small leak in your main water line to your home can go undetected for months yet even a small leak has the potential to lead to significant property damage and should not be left unattended.
If you think you may have a leak in your water line, one way to check is to shut off your main water line valve at the side of your home. Also shut down any irrigation system that is connected prior to your shut off valve. With the water off at the side of your home check your meter. The meter should not show water usage. If water continues to flow through your meter, you have a leak.
